it’s something that stemmed from me thinking about how we tend to love the potential of a relationship, rather than the reality…. wondering if you pondered the same thing from it.
I guess we can have in mind the end result we think we wanted, shaped by external factors of what we think is desirable (society, family, yearning for a particular type of love, fulfilling work, success in a broad sense). When actually what we need, and will find continued and renewed hope in, is a yellow door waiting amongst a plethora of great houses and grey doors which all seem the same, and neverending sometimes.
The question I thought many times, as a Christian, before my girlfriend and I got together, “Does it really matter who, if we both learn to love each other, together, with God at the centre?”
Maybe it’s less that the door is yellow when we find it, but that we colour it as we go?
Many, many thoughts. Such a powerful poem El. Thank you again for sharing it. 🧡
This poem really has me thinking…
If I can remember to, I’ll come back with some more thoughts that my subconscious has been chewing away at! 🧡
