This Is Not A Travel Blog

Dear My WordPress Community,

Although the domain of my blog implies this space to be a blog about traveling, indeed it is not. Moreover, this is a blog where I share my writings, wanderings, and wonderings. Many of these thoughts have been sparked by travel, but in many other ways as well.

These days, the term “blogger” has become a pseudo synonym with the word “bragger.” Lots of people want to tell you about all the places they’ve been while subconsciously looking for validation. My goal as a blogger is to cultivate a space where we can share ideas together and stimulate each other to think differently about concepts, both small and large.

So what exactly does “self-improvement ideas from a self-identified imperfectionist” mean? I love this phrase for many reasons. I’ve found my niche in blogging by sharing things that have helped me grow as a person which can hopefully help you in the same way, or encourage you to look at things from a different point of view. I also conceived the word “imperfectionist” because I feel it describes a person who accepts nothing will be perfect, but still chooses to love it just the same, finding more solace in knowing everything is meant to be as it is. All of this in an effort to honor the infinite knowledge around us, realizing that we can all learning something from one another.

Thank you for traveling on this journey with me. It’s a beautiful adventure for both of us.

Light and love,

EJ

Thanks I like to think it’s a bit unique 🙂 & yes I agree I think that’s what life should be all about. Afterall, when we wonder we begin to ask questions which leads to finding answers and evolving 🙂 Namaste!

  3. Love your unique view on this! Thanks for sharing ☺️. It is so true that travelling allows us to learn so much about ourselves – not just the places that we are visiting.

Yes I completely agree! Learning more about the places I visit and why they are the way they are helps me to learn more about myself and why I am the way I am. It’s truly a beautiful gift. Thanks for reading 🙂 <3E

First off I want to say great blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if
you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head
prior to writing. I have had a difficult time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out.
I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost simply just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints?
    Thank you!

totally understand not wanting to be lumped into the category with all the other braggers, I mean “bloggers”…its unfortunate but folks that follow and read know the difference, lovely site you have!

Hey Molly- thank you for reading and for sharing your thoughts. It fills me with joy to know others appreciate the difference between blogging and bragging. Btw, your portraits are absolutely gorgeous! Wish we could’ve worked together when I lived in London, I’ll have to make a trip back! Cheers 🙂 <3E

I enjoyed reading about the way you see yourself as a ‘blogger’ and not a ‘bragger’ because I feel exactly the same. In these strange times, having my husband back at work and not being able to see my daughter (due to her being a care worker) and family, I’m finding writing about ‘holidays’ a reminder of what I can look forward to, when we can begin to travel again, as well as see family. I’ve written about my honeymoon today and mentioned the use of ‘social media’ as a way if being inspired to go places where people have been – not forgetting travel documentaries too. Sometimes, without seeing those photos or documentaries, I may not have even considered going there and that’s why I like to share my experiences – hoping I can inspire others to go to places I’ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing.

very inspiring! traveling is definitely more about living in the moment and being present but with social media at play I feel it’s become a competition and it takes away from what traveling is actually about.. anyway thank you for sharing!

You pack so much goodness into do few words. Every day is an opportunity for learning, for us to find new things, some of which we’ll like and some of which we won’t. All are good!

“Self-improvement ideas from a self-identified imperfectionist”. A wide phrase that deserves a lot of thought. We can all improve within ourselves, and in our interactions with others.

Thank you for caring, and a safe and beautiful space for others to do the same. ♥
