{abstinence}

{abstinence}
the worst vice of all
is to abstain from your innermost thoughts,
your darkest thoughts.
yes, even your darkest thoughts.
for you cannot know your true self if you do not face them.

  1. Sometimes that demon isn’t always evil and it isn’t always wrong.

    I believe in creating a safe space where my inner demons can come out to play. But first you have to let them know who is in charge.

      I like that. How do you let them know who is in charge? Sometimes that’s easier said than done.

      1. LOL! If it were easy there’d be a lot less insanity in the world.

        I find that by getting to know them they are easier to deal with. People pretend they don’t exist because they think that just by having a demon you’re a sick person. They are foolish. Everyone has their demons.

    Carl Jung had A LOT to say about repressing the “shadow” (i.e. everything one does not wish to be). I’ll just leave this little tidbit:

    “Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. At all counts, it forms an unconscious snag, thwarting our most well-meant intentions.” (Carl Jung)

      I really like that quote you shared! I think our shadow definitely has a place in our life/thoughts. The more we get to know it, the more we can learn to utilize it in beneficial ways. Thanks for sharing 🙂 ~E
